Luqman Mohammed – Project Engineer

Luqman works in our assembly division and manages the full lifecycle of customer builds such as control panel and junction box projects - from quotes, through the job pack for the shop floor team, to liaising with customers on any queries along the way. He moved to the UK from Kenya at age 13 without speaking English, studied engineering at Milton Keynes College, and joined Routeco's apprenticeship scheme instead of going straight to university.

Routeco Journey:

Started as an apprentice in 2013, moved to semi-skilled wireperson, fully skilled wireperson, and into his current project engineer role. Luqman has successfully transitioned from hands-on shop floor work to office-based customer management, backed by Routeco's talent development programme which helped him build confidence. He’s had supportive managers that helped him overcome initial nerves around speaking with customers and learning to stop overthinking every decision.

Luqman would tell his younger self to not overthink, stay positive, take risks, and remember that experiencing new things is all part of the journey.
